Polly Donnellan is a practicing artist based in Kilkenny. She trained as a teacher of film and art at Alnwick College of Education, graduating in 1977. Following her move to Ireland in 1979 she trained and worked as a welder and machine operator until 1984. Between 1999 and 2002 she attended Kilkenny College of Art and Design, graduating with distinction. From 2002 to 2004 she worked as a curator for Kilkenny County Council Arts Office. In 2008 she completed a two year FETAC (level 5) course in Art, Craft and Design at the Grennan Mill Craft School, graduating with distinction. Over the years Polly has facilitated many courses in art and craft, including In-Service courses for Primary School Teachers. She also worked as an arts facilitator for community groups in Kilkenny.
