Any road of creativity is difficult I believe. When I write I remember the words of Hemingway, "Writing is easy. You just sit down at your typewriter and bleed."

So I think changing your focus to a larger canvas (of any type) is understandably difficult. Keep at it I say.

I have enjoyed my visit to your blog. Really lovely.

Thanks Ruthie, it's a great feeling to have made the decision. It remains to be seen whether it's a sensible choice at this time of recession and no money. Getting my head around the art work will take slightly longer than the decision to leave the job, I think, so in the meantime I am making marmalade. It's my contribution to the house this week.
I'm glad it worked for you, and it gives me more confidence that it will work for me. Pol

Thanks for your input, all of what you say is true and I have taken the first steps in giving myself two weeks off to think about it. The money thing is a bit of a problem, but I hope to make a few shillings with my art work in the future, so hopefully it will all work out. I will put it out to the wider universe and stop worrying. As for the parents, my mum is eventually coming to live with us when she manages to sell her house so, luckily, I will have the time to spend with her, all being well. Life is for living in the best way I can that's my aim for this year.

I gave up a well-paid and very secure job last year to follow my passion (healing and teaching). Well, I have to say I'm not making much money yet, and I'm glad my husband brings in enough to meet our needs. But, boy, am I happy with the choice I made!
I enjoy my work so much now that it doesn't feel like work at all. As a bonus, I am now able to truly enjoy the company of my parents, who are, well, getting on. I hadn't realized how much difference it can make to spend time with people when you are not stressed by a job that you feel is not quite right for you!
So long as the financial part is under control, I think one really has to give one's passion a chance - at least one chance!
After I resigned, I wrote a blog about work, a calling, one's dharma, etc., which might just be relevant here:

Good luck!
